MV Natura

Shuttle Tanker for The North Sea

STXM together with STX Offshore & Shipbuilding ASA in Finland has experience in the design of a wide range of tankers including product carriers, crude oil carriers, and shuttle tankers to serve the needs of offshore production facilities.

KMY pioneered the double hull crude oil shuttle tanker with the design and delivery of the M/V Futura and the M/V Natura in the 1990's for service in the North Sea.

World and Alaska Class Tankers

Since then, Aker Yards has developed unique propulsion concepts for tankers operating in the winter Baltic Sea and summer Arctic Ocean, leading to the first Double Acting Designs for tankers operating in ice.

STXM has personnel with tanker knowledge dating to the initial development of the first VLCC's and modern Inert Gas Systems.

Working as part of a consortium of shipbuilders and marine suppliers, STXM developed two modern environmentally friendly tankers for the US Jones Act trade - a 40,000 DWT product carrier known as the World Class tanker and a 125,000 DWT crude oil carrier for the Alaska service or Suez service.
