STX Canada Marine / STX US Marine

STXM is a consulting naval architecture and marine engineering company established in July 1983 . The company itself has undergone numerous ownership changes, the most recent being the evolution of STXM Inc. from Aker Yards Marine (AYM).

Since its inception, STXM has established an impressive client base, including shipbuilders, ship owners, ship operators and government agencies. The company offers professional design engineering and shipbuilding technology services to clients throughout North America and internationally.

To further augment its own capabilities and the range of services offered to the marine community, STXM acquired Polar Design Associates (PDA) in 1998. This merger brought with it significant expertise from the design and construction of small to medium size research and patrol type vessels as well as key personnel with a background in the use of the latest design and construction techniques.

STXM is at the apex of a large body of technical resources available through its parent organization STX Offshore and Shipbuilding and it's principal subsidiary STX Europe AS. STX O&S have two shipyards in Korea focusing on commercial vessel construction and a new commercial and offshore shipbuilding facility in Dalian, China. STX Europe AS, formerly known as Aker Yards, comprises 15 shipyards in Brazil, Finland, France, Norway, Romania and Vietnam. The combination of STX O&S and STX Europe results in one of the largest shipbuilders in the world.

Perhaps the most valuable and unique asset, which STXM has as a result of its corporate affiliations, is the ability to access the data compiled from hundreds of ships built within the STX O&S and STX Europe Groups.
